Restoring Pro and what to do when your purchase is not recognized

Pro is tied to the account you bought it with, not to the phone. After a reinstall, a new device, or a long time offline, the app sometimes starts in Free before it has confirmed your purchase. Nothing is lost. Pick the section for where you bought Pro.

Not sure where you bought it? Look at the receipt: an Apple receipt means the App Store, a Google Play receipt means Google Play, a receipt from Punch List or Stripe means the website, and if you never paid at all your company gave you a seat.

Bought on the App Store (iPhone or iPad)

  1. Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases. The app syncs with the App Store first, which may ask for your Apple Account password, then checks again.
  2. If it reports that no purchase was found, that Apple Account did not buy Pro. The usual causes:
    • You are signed in to the App Store with a different Apple Account than the one that paid. Check in the iPhone Settings app, under your name, then Media & Purchases.
    • Family Sharing. Punch List subscriptions are not shared across a family group. The person who paid has Pro; other members do not.
    • The subscription lapsed. Check Settings, your name, Subscriptions on the iPhone for an expired Punch List entry.
  3. If you see the alert We Couldn't Verify Your Pro Purchase, the app held Pro for 14 days without the App Store confirming it and then switched to Free. Tap Restore Purchases from that alert with the Apple Account that bought Pro. If that does not clear it, tap Contact Support from the same alert and we will look at it with you.

Two active subscriptions. If your iPhone's Subscriptions list shows two Punch List entries, you re-subscribed on a device that had not yet confirmed the first one. Both unlock the same features, so keep one (the yearly is the better deal) and cancel the other. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; we cannot issue them ourselves.

The lifetime purchase belongs to one Apple Account. It restores on any device signed in to that account and nowhere else. It cannot be shared with a crew; for that, see team licensing.

Bought on Google Play (Android)

  1. Open the app, go to Settings, open the Pro screen, and tap Restore Purchases.
  2. If nothing is found, check that the phone's Play Store app is signed in to the same Google account that paid. A work profile or a second account on the phone is a common cause.
  3. In the Play Store app, under your profile picture, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, confirm the Punch List subscription is active and not paused or cancelled.

Bought on the website

Web subscriptions are attached to your email address, not to an app store. There is nothing to restore; you sign in.

  1. In the app, open Settings, then Account.
  2. Tap Continue with Email and enter the email address you subscribed with. On iPhone you can also use Continue with Google if that is the same address.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code we email you. Pro unlocks.

If it still shows Free, the address is different from the one on your subscription. Check your receipt email from Punch List, or sign in at mypunchlistapp.com/account in a browser to see which address holds the subscription and whether it is active.

One web subscription covers one person on up to two devices at a time. If a device shows Free after you signed in elsewhere, open Account and tap Use Pro on this device.

Your company gave you a seat

Team seats work like web subscriptions: sign in with the exact work email your admin added. The full walkthrough, including the two-device limit and what to do when the seat is not found, is in Signing in with your work email.

Cancelling

  • App Store: iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Punch List.
  • Google Play: Play Store app, your profile, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions.
  • Website: sign in at mypunchlistapp.com/account and use the billing portal.

Cancelling stops the renewal; Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Your lists and photos are never affected by the subscription state. Free still lets you create lists, add items and take photos; only the Pro features lock.

Still not working?

Email support@mypunchlistapp.com with where you bought Pro, the email or store account you used, and the device. On iPhone and iPad, Settings then Customer Support opens an email with the device details already filled in.
