The short answer
If your company lives in a shared photo feed, with the office watching field photos stream in across twenty crews, CompanyCam is built for you and Punch List is not. But if you are a solo contractor or a small crew, and your photos exist to document punch items, walk a closeout, and land in a PDF report your client signs off on, you are paying photo-platform prices for a punch list workflow. CompanyCam's cheapest plan is $63 a month for one user, billed annually, as of August 2026. Punch List Pro is $79.99 a year.
Why crews go looking for an alternative
CompanyCam's overall ratings remain high, and most of its customers are presumably happy. The complaints below are a pattern from a specific segment: small, photo-first crews, the exact tier this page is for. Four themes repeat in dated public reviews.
1. The price of entry
As of August 28, 2026, CompanyCam's published pricing is Core at $63 per month for 1 user, Crew at $129 per month for 3 users, and Scale at $199 per month for 3 users, each billed annually, with additional users at $29 each (source: companycam.com/pricing). For a solo contractor, that is $756 a year for the entry plan. Long-time customers describe the climb: an April 2026 Google review from a customer of more than five years cites repeated price raises as the product moved beyond photos, and another reviewer that month called it "so overpriced for what they offer."
2. Features you did not ask for
The same April 2026 reviews describe a product that, in one customer's words, "drifted from being a photo tool into payments, contracts, reports, and other frivolous things." Another put it this way: "They try to implement features no one is asking for." CompanyCam's own pricing page now lists a separate Marketing Suite add-on at $79 per month on top of any plan, as of August 2026 (source: companycam.com/pricing). If you wanted a camera that feeds your closeout paperwork, the surface area keeps growing in a different direction.
3. Getting your photos back out
CompanyCam's own help center documents how download works: per project, via a Download All Photos action that sends a zipped link to an email address. No account-wide export is documented as of August 2026 (source: their help doc on downloading photos). An April 2026 Google review put it bluntly: "Their business model is hostage taking. Your photos are the hostage." The same review includes a screenshot of a CompanyCam support reply acknowledging, "There really isn't a very efficient way to download photos all at once." Their Google Drive integration syncs photos on an ongoing basis, but only for projects created after you connect it, per their own documentation (source: their Google Drive integration doc). 4. Support that sells
An April 2026 Google review describes a "customer support team that is sales focused vs providing a service." A June 2026 Trustpilot reviewer reported that after canceling, their account kept receiving daily recap emails, and that stopping them would have meant paying to reactivate the account. Two dated reviews are not a support department, but they match the pattern the price path suggests: the product is optimized for expansion, not for small accounts on the way out.

Prices verified August 28, 2026. CompanyCam lists additional users at $29 each on all plans. Punch List team seats deploy through your MDM with one license key and no per-user accounts.
The gap is large because the products are different sizes. CompanyCam is a company-wide photo platform with a web dashboard, a live feed, and an integration directory. Punch List is a punch list app that treats photos as evidence attached to work items. If the second sentence describes how you actually use photos, the first product's price is buying things you do not open.
When you should stay on CompanyCam
An honest list. Stay on CompanyCam if any of these are true:
- The shared photo feed is your product. Office staff watching field photos arrive in real time, across many crews and projects, is CompanyCam's core and Punch List has nothing like it. Punch List is device-centric: lists live on the device and move as files and PDF reports.
- You rely on integrations. CompanyCam maintains an integration directory (see companycam.com/integrations). Punch List integrates with nothing; it exports PDFs and .pnch files.
- You are a 20-seat-plus company. Unlimited photo storage across a big team, admin controls, and a web dashboard are platform features. Punch List team licensing covers crews from 5 to 500 seats, but it is a punch list tool, not a company photo archive.
- You use the marketing features. Before-and-after content and the Marketing Suite add-on have no equivalent in Punch List.

What Punch List does instead

On data: your punch lists and photos live on your device, not in a cloud account you rent access to. If you stop paying, the app drops back to the free tier and everything you created stays on your device, readable. There is no per-project download ritual because there is no vault holding your work.
