Why is a snagging app called Punch List?
Punch list is simply the American name for a snag list, and our app is named after it. The workflow it supports is the one you already run at practical completion: a snagging inspection of the finished work, a list of defects for the builder, fixes, and a re-check before handover. Same list, different accent. If you want the full rundown of what a punch list is, we cover it step by step.
- Record snags room by room at practical completion
- Assign each snag to the builder or trade responsible
- Re-inspect and mark snags complete as they are fixed
- Keep a dated photo record for the defects liability period

Snagging FAQ
Common questions
- Is a snag list the same as a punch list?
- Yes. Snag list is the term used in the UK, Ireland, and Australia; punch list is the American name for the same document. Our app is called Punch List after the US term, but the workflow is identical: record defects, assign them, and close them out before handover.
- Is the snag list app free?
- Yes. Punch List is free to download on the App Store and Google Play, and creating snag lists, adding photos, and tracking completion cost nothing. A Pro subscription ($9.99 per month or $79.99 per year) unlocks branded PDF reports, digital signatures, and import and export.
- Does the app work offline on site?
- Yes. Punch List runs entirely on your device, so you can record snags and photos with no signal or wifi. Your data stays on your phone until you choose to export or share it.
- Can I share a snag list with my builder or other trades?
- Yes. You can generate a professional PDF snagging report with photos and send it to your builder by email, or export the list itself as a .pnch file that anyone with the app can import, whether they are on iPhone or Android. Both are Pro features.
- When should a snagging inspection happen?
- The main snagging inspection happens at practical completion, before handover, so the builder can fix snags while still on site. Many owners also re-inspect at the end of the defects liability period to catch anything that has appeared since.
